HOW IT WORKS

HOW IT WORKS

1. Accessibility

The control center houses an air pump and a control panel in one convenient weatherproof housing. It is able to conduct all operations and is powered by only a single wire.

2. Aeration Process

When effluent arrives, the ATU immediately starts to work. The aeration compartment is where the cleanup action takes place. The air pump injects air through the diffuser lines and into (remove to) the wastewater, where oxygenation begins. This encourages the growth of aerobic bacteria, which feed on the organic waste and decompose it.

3. Clarification

The oxygenated effluent enters the ATU’s clarification compartment, a conically shaped area that separates clarified water from any remaining solids, which settle back to the aeration compartment for further treatment. Clear effluent leaves the clarification chamber through the outlet baffle.

         Advanced Aerobic Treatment Unit (ATU)

4. Re-aeration Chamber

During the aeration process the effluent loses some of its oxygen. Therefore the re-aeration chamber diffuses additional oxygen into the pre-treated effluent, using the same air compressor. This is how the dissolved oxygen gets increased. (Only needed for NPDES discharging)

5. UV Disinfection Process

After re-aeration the pre-treated effluent passes through the UV chamber and around the bulb where ultraviolet rays strike the bacteria, which breaks it down and keeps it from reproducing. This results in the reduction of fecal coliform bacteria meeting EPA/NPDES discharging systems. (Only needed for NPDES discharge)

HYDRO-ACTION CLEAR ADVANTAGES

HYDRO-ACTION CLEAR ADVANTAGES

High Performance

The Hydro-Action System outperforms traditional septic tanks in prolonging drain field life, meeting environmental standards, including one & two foot soil depth credits and NPDES discharging requirements.

Durability

Watertight tested fiberglass design, manufactured in the US by an industry leader with over 30 years experience. Our tanks are even tougher and longer lasting than concrete tanks.

Five Year Limited Warranty

No need to worry about maintenance, your system will be inspected and serviced twice a year for the first two years. If any defects occur in the first two years our warranty covers them. Thereafter, service contracts will be offered and the pro-rated warranty applies.

Easy Installation

Our system is a one-piece pre-assembled design allowing for easy installation without setting multiple tanks, and can be set in just one excavation. It is also internally wired and plumbed, allowing for just one power wire to run the entire system.

Easy Maintenance

With no moving parts or components inside the tank, and instant access to all operational components mounted in a weatherproof housing, routine maintenance is quick and easy.

Cost Effective Solution

With a simpler installation than conventional systems, high adaptability to difficult land conditions and low operating cost, Hydro-action is a superior to the competition.

FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DOs and DON'Ts

DOs AND DON'Ts

DOs

  • Do spread automatic washer use over the week rather than many loads on one day.

  • Do make a permanent record of where the key parts of your system are located for future maintenance; such as tank pump outs or field repairs.

  • Do have your septic tank pumped out regularly.

  • Do keep the records of pump outs and maintenance.

  • Do use water-conserving devices where possible. Low flush toilets and showers heads are commonly available.

  • Do have manually cleaned lint traps on your automatic washer.

  • Do check any pumps, siphons, or other moving parts of your system regularly.

  • Do remove or prevent trees with large root systems growing near the disposal field.

  • Do maintain a healthy grass cover over the disposal field to use some of the water and to prevent erosion.

  • Do keep surface water from upslope or from roof drains away from the disposal field.

  • Do check your interceptor drain regularly to ensure that it is free flowing.

  • Do compost your kitchen waste. A garbage grinder should be installed only when the septic tank is oversized, and the tank will need to be pumped more often.

DON'Ts

  • Don’t overload the system with high volumes of water.

  • Don’t connect basement sump pumps to the on-site system.

  • Don’t connect backwash from water treatment devices directly to the on-site system without professional advice. Don’t allow large amounts of fats, chemicals or solvents to enter the system; don’t allow any plastics to enter.

  • Don’t use any septic tank additives. They are not beneficial and may damage your disposal system. Active bacteria are naturally present in sewage. Even with additives, regular pumping of solids is still required.

  • Don’t enter a septic tank without proper ventilation. A second person is required to be present above ground and other requirements by law are met for confined spaces. Sewer gases can be fatal.

  • Don’t allow vehicles or heavy equipment to drive over or park on the disposal field. This may compact the soil and crush the piping.

  • Don’t plant anything over the disposal field except grass. Especially do not cover the tank or field with asphalt or concrete or other impermeable material.

  • Don’t put in a separate pipe to carry wash waters to a side ditch or woods. These “greywaters” also contain disease- carrying organisms.

  • Above all else- DO NOT wait for signs of failure. Check the system regularly.

  • Don't flush the following items into your septic system:

    • Coffee grounds

    • Disposable diapers

    • Sanitary napkins

    • Cigarette butts

    • Fats, grease and oils, Disinfectants, Photographic chemicals

    • Pills and unused medication

    • Dental floss

    • Kitty litter

    • Tampons

    • Condoms

    • Paper towels

    • Pesticides

    • Other chemical wastes

    • Paints

    • Varnishes

    • Waste oils

    • Poisons

    • Thinners
